Pallets and Planks
I only use selected used pallets and scaffolding planks that are no longer safe for their original use, many destined for the fire. The fact that they are used makes them even more valuable to me. The dirt that has been rubbed into the grain over time gives it a unique finish when sanded smooth. Years of outdoor use have left the planks “impregnated” by wind and weather, giving it a naturally loved finish. Solid, durable, unique furniture that will last for many years. Small cracks are not material defects, but are desired features of the material. The contrast between the solidity of the raw material and the hand-sanded surface followed by 4 coats of wax and paint enhances the charm and warmth of this furniture, which is suitable for indoor and outdoor use. Every piece of furniture is unique, a one-off. No two products are the same; every single plank is different in colour and surface texture, and all show different traces of use. |
I've been sourcing used planks and pallets for a couple of years, I have sanded, polished, waxed and waxed and waxed hundreds of planks, turning them into different items of furniture for homes, shops, restaurants and hotels........
But its long tables that seem to be a big hit with most people, they are so cost effective when you think you can sit up 36 people and if you have space outdoors just leave it there to weather away nicely..... SEEKING SPACE WANTED AD Looking for a small studio, barn, outhouse so that I can start making up long tables (up to 24 feet) with benches to match for all that enjoy eating outside with friends, good food and lots of wine..... |
